In the new installed ChatGPT, you'll find "Keyboard shortcuts" in the Settings menu. This is a list of actions that can be triggered by keyboard shortcuts.
Pre-assigned:
Some actions already have a pre-assigned keyboard shortcut.
Unassigned:
Some actions says "Unassigned", meaning you can assign keyboard shortcuts to them if you want.
Changing pre-assigned keyboard shortcut:
You can also change a pre-assigned keyboard shortcut for a specific action.
@ (in prompt field) = MENTION menu, show - (ALL versions of ChatGPT)
/ (in prompt field) = SLASH menu/Slash commands, show - (ALL versions of ChatGPT)
Ctrl N = NEW CHAT - (installed versions of ChatGPT)
Ctrl O = ROOT FOLDER, open project root folder - (new installed ChatGPT)
Ctrl / = COMMANDS, show - (ALL versions of ChatGPT)
Ctrl . = DEV MODE, enable/disable - (ALL versions of ChatGPT)
...For adapting your MCP server to ChatGPT, and for importing your tool so it shows up in plugins list.
Esc = CLOSE current dialog box - (ALL versions of ChatGPT)
Some keyboard shortcuts (for example voice mode activation) require ChatGPT background process to be running for them to work. Without ChatGPT background process activated, ChatGPT will not respond to these kinds of keyboard shortcuts.
For ChatGPT background process to be running, you need to have started your ChatGPT desktop application during your current Windows session, before you use your keyboard shortcut.
Tip: You can copy shortcut file for ChatGPT to Startup folder in Windows so background process is always listening to your keystrokes.
VOICE Mode Activation:
In new ChatGPT desktop application >> Click you account name (Click F11 if you don't see it) >> Settings >> Voice >> Voice chat >> "Voice chat hotkey" >> Click pen icon🖋️ >> Tip: Press: Alt x >> Press Esc button to exit settings.
DICTATION Activation:
In new ChatGPT desktop application >> Click you account name (Click F11 if you don't see it) >> Settings >> Voice >> Dictation >> "Toggle dictation hotkey" >> Click pen icon🖋️ >> Tip: Press: Alt d >> Tip: Disable "Keep dictation bar visible" >> Press Esc button to exit settings.
POPOUT Window hotkey:
In new ChatGPT desktop application >> Click you account name (Click F11 if you don't see it) >> Settings >> General >> Scroll down to bottom >> Popout Window >> "Popout Window hotkey" >> Click pen icon🖋️ >> Tip: Press: Alt c
