If you do NOT have training data turned off in your AI tool, it may be that what you write in the chat is used to train future AI models.
In some cases, you may need to turn off training data manually in your AI tool.
So think carefully before you write confidential or sensitive information in an AI tool...
You may need a paid subscription to be able to disable training data.
Some paid subscriptions may also have training data disabled "by default" so that you do not need to change any settings manually. But my recommendation is to always, just to be safe, check whether training data is active or disabled in your subscription (so that you know for sure). If you CANNOT choose to disable training data, it is most likely because you need a paid subscription.
In your computer's web browser, on ChatGPT.com: At the bottom left, select Settings, choose Data Controls, and make sure that "Improve the model for everyone" is set to "Off" (so training data is disabled).
Tip: If you choose to use the ChatGPT Business / Enterprise / Education subscription in your organization, then training data is disabled by default, which is convenient. However, I recommend that you occasionally check that the setting is set to "Off" just to be safe.
